9918 programming troubles - 03.27.2005, 08:18 PM

Hello, i just hooked up all my brushless stuff, 9918, 9l and UBEC. all connections are correct (i checked over everything countless times)

I went to program the 9918 controller, and when i turn my remote on (JR XS3 radio), and plug in the batteries, there is some servo glitching, then that stops, then the motor beeps after 5 seconds. I then move the trigger to full power, and after 5 seconds, there is no beep, not after 10, or 20 seconds. i tried it several times, but it keeps doing the same thing. What is wrong with it???

Make sure your trim and subtrims are set to zero and try again. This sometimes will trick the controller and it won't register full throttle or brakes or neutral. Let me know how it works.

OK, i fixed it. I check the trims, they were all set to zero. So then i reversed the throttle. That fixed it!
What scared me is the glitching that is going on. When i put my hand near the 9918 to put the program jumper back in, the servos would sometimes go nuts, and sometimes not do anything. I was about to have a heart attack... lol.

Is it OK for me to give it a tiny bit of throttle to make sure the motor will move? Right now i dont have the gear for it, so it would have no load. I heard that is bad for the motor, so thats why i ask. I just want to know everything works so i can get this ton of bricks off my shoulders...

It is fine to test it, but don't go full throttle with no load.
