Need advice BL Savage - 08.24.2006, 08:18 AM

I have a Savage X all is stock, so i planning to make BL conversion. I have couple questions:
So i planning to use Feigao XL motor and BK9920 ESC.
Thinking about 12-14 setup is it OK?
Batteries GP3300 for start. How long aprox. RunTime i will get?
I think to leave stock 2 speed gearbox and mech. brakes for that.
I want to know good combination for motor? (6XL, 7XL, 8XL)
Which Spur and pinion combination i should to get to reach top speed 40-45mph?

Want to get nice compromice between RunTime/Torque/Speed. Just simple to smoke Nitro brothers :028:

7 or 8xl should be fine. not sure the run times, that would depend on spur and what not.

14 cells will do the job, 12 is a bit too low IMO. Get the 8XL if you want a rather long runtime. The 2 speed transmission will keep the motor nice and cool..

The GP3300's are the cells i am still using. They deliver terrific punch.

40-45mph is asking a bit. Get the 7XL for that, but you will sacrafice runtime.

Check this calculator to do your math.

So hello again :)
I am back, been away for a while so now i have time and money to go further with brushless system in my Savage X which waiting in corner.
I'm think i will not sacrafice in runtime and will go for a longer runtime!
and now think between 9XL and 10XL motors with 16cell GP3300 combination
I tried to use speed calculator to get close 40mph becouse 2 tracks where i race, have 2 long strights so i need potensial to be close with other trucks on stright.
So with 10XL motor and 20/47 combination and some Voltage drop on battery i will get ~38mph which is ok but its maximum with no room to play with gearings becouse 20 pinion is max what possible to buy here
Or i should buy 9XL.
How long aprox. runtime i will get from 16 GP3300 with 10XL batteries in race conditon? 15min? 20min? I will be happy to get 20min.
I need suggestions and advice.
A moment i have a money for BK 9920 and Feigao 540C XL motor and want to buy now becouse Mike have nice price for ESC.
I am never saw in real how BL Savage will perform with Nitro brothers but on video i think it will be better acceleration and punch.
One question more, what different between bore 32/bore 48/mod1 pinions? What pinnion i should use on my savage? Mod1?
I know someone here race with 10XL motor but dont remember exactly who? sqweeforevwer?
Thanks

I think 16 cells will get you almost 15min, depending on the gearing. mod 1 is bigger teeth. when you say "bore" that is the inner diameter of the pinion. 5mm, 4mm, etc. the xl motors are 5mm bore. 32 and mod 1 are the "pitch" of the pinions. So the 32 will be smaller teeth. I raced with a 10xl, it was ok on 16 cells. the 9xl will get you more speed, but I think the 10xl may give a better run time, not sure on that, someone else can chime in.

i made some research on the net and figured out that pitch they mean how many teeth per inch of pitch diameter "TPI" 32. Pitch 32 =32TPI and Module 1.0 (mod1) mean similar thing but in metric measure.
And now question: what TPI is Savage SPUR GEAR/clutch bell by default?

Sry for my bad English:dft001:

I had a electric savage with a 3 speed. It would get down. I kind of liked the three
speed for a wider variety in gearing. Just a pita to adjust.

Peace!
