Setting up an E-Revo - 09.08.2006, 12:30 AM

Building an E-Revo this week and I am getting all the parts from Mike except for wheels and I was wondering about the ease of setting the gorilla maxx chassis up with brushless? Also, wanted to know if aluminum and blue alloy is the favorite color choices of everyone? Starting out with the chassis alum. and standard traxxas susp. black, but as break I will upgrade. What do you think I should upgrade first, batteries, alum, or blue alloy parts? Speed in the batteries or appearence comes first???:032:

Does it really matter that much how it looks? If you run it it'll just get scuffed up and dirty anyway....

Go with the things that make it go better first.:018:

Just my opinion.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

I was also considering building an evo. I know the diffs on a revo are stronger than an emaxx but you dont have the option of upgrading to a buggy diff. I beat my emaxx like a red headed step child and went through diffs at an alarming rate:035: before I put in 8 spyders. How are revo diffs compared to say 6 or 8 spyder buggy diffs? P.S. I know how to shim them and I still destroyed the aluminum cupped and cased robinson geared 10th scale diffs

Mike is coming out with the Hybrids soon for the revo that can hold 1/8 buggy diffs i believe.
As for speed before beauty, i agree with jhautz, get what dependable. Alloy looks nice sure, but after a few runs, and it gets all chipped up, it looks worse than regular aluminum parts getting nicked and what not.

i agree...go for function over looks...besides when you race...looks isn't what helps you win...it's the durability of the truck...

It's not necessarily durability that wins the race! It's staying on the track! LOL, running consistantly wins the race plus good runtimes of course. but if you're crashin all the time, how can you get a good run and time? But looks have nothing to do with it, i'm in total agreement there!

also not having your packs go poof either....lol or wires eaten by your spur gear...ouch...but in all seriousness.....build it for function and if you want it to look nice then concentrate on that second....but newe does have a point...staying on the track helps to...

Your evo will munch diffs too, not as quick as the old Maxx diffs true. I would get a set of Mikes 8th cases and be done.
Even the ali revo hopup cases have a limited life
