Hyper 7 Conversion Questions -

I picked up a Hyper 7 TQ Sport for $160 new (CHEAP!!! $230 at Tower). I have a few question for converting it. I have a 7XL and a Quark 125 that I would like to use, would this be a good combo. I will probably be useing 4S lipo. I heard that a Kyosho plastic gear will fit the center diff, if so what one and where to get it from and what pitch is it (mod 1, 32p ....). Also what dif oil should I use for each (front, rear and center).

As far as the BL system,yes that would be a good setup.
The gear would be mod1.

You can use the 5mm bore mod1 gears that Mike sells. Just a guess, a 14t pinion might do well.

Thanks guys! What do you think I should use for diff oil? Any ideas on layout to get the proper balance.
Cartwheels what motor are you running?

With 4S lipo, you might as well consider the mamba-maxx with a ubec.
Diffoil.. Well.. start with 5 in rear, 7 in front and 10 in the middle. that's a nice start for a buggy..

The reason I said the 7XL is because I am pulling it out of the emaxx (it has been getting to hot) and putting the 1950/7 back in (stays cool and faster) and I have the Quark just sitting around. I am hopeing the 7XL will run cooler in the buggy because of less wieght.

After weighing all my parts (8.2-8.8lbs rtr) I think that I might want to lighten it up a bit. What other motor and or controller would work well in a Hyper 7 without heat issues. Serum you mentioned the MM combo, which one would work best? Would this be pushing the limits of the MM because of the weight of the buggy and the voltage of 4s lipo? The MM combo would save me a good 170 grams (0.37lbs) and they are also smaller.

I believe he was only recommending the MM ESC, not the combo.

Right Skellyo, only the controller. the motor is too small, and has got a too high kv.

I thought it was a little much for the motor that is why I asked. Do you think that a LMT 1940 or NEU 1512 would work good for this project. I will probably just use the 7XL I already have but I my want to switch to a better motor later (more eff., cooler running and maybe lighter).

The 1940 or 1512 would both work well. I've been planning on getting a 1512 2.5D for my buggy(s).

Please post your results when you do get that. I'm kinda up in the air about the 1512 vs the 1515 - not sure if the shorter can will run cool enough for my linking (on 4s)...

I'm getting the shorter one because it's $55 cheaper (that's 9 hours worth of work) and glassdoctor said he's been having good results with his 1512 in his buggy.
