EVX and Lipo 11.1 3s -
09.28.2006, 06:31 PM
Picked up a new E-Maxx today to play around with. Can I use the 3S Lipo I already have and just connect to one connector on the EVX? The EVX is supposed to handle 14.4V but I don't know if I can handle it on one connector or not?

Also, how does the Mamba Max do with the E-Maxx?

The Mamba Max ESC will do great with the Maxx, but limits you on cell count. The motors have too high of a KV and not enough torque.

What about the EVX? Have any idea if it will work? Just wanted to get a feel for the stock setup before I mod, just as a comparison.

Well. Not so much...You would have to put the 3S on the BEC side, or use a RX/UBEC (either one, your choice) and you can't put it on the BEC side of the EVX because its to much voltage. You would have to put it on the opposite side of the BEC and would have to make a jumper for the BEC side so it completes the circuit...And even then, 3S won't move the truck to well..

Well I just pulled the EVX and Titans and installed the Mamba 5700 and 3S. Seems to have plenty of juice up and down the driveway.
I guess I have a EVX and 2 Titans brand new for sale if anyone needs them.
Stock pinion is 18. After a little testing in the daylight I may drop it down a bit and turn the timing all the way down on the motor. It's really just a setup for my 7 yr old to play with. The LST is still my baby.

Has anyone noticed the noise coming from the drivetrain or pinion/spur on the Emaxx? The AEB4 is totally stealth but the Maxx is kind of loud.

Yea, its a little loud sometimes, but check your spur, it might be warped. Also, check the mesh. Check the temps on the MM setup to. It will probably get pretty hot...

The mesh is good, tried different settings, always loud.
Yes, the Mamba thermalled after about 3 or 4 min in the deep grass in low range. It seems to run alot better in low than high. I know the motor is not designed for this application, just playing around right now. I am also running the LST 6.5" tires on it.
The stock steering servo is terrible. I'm about to rip it out and replace it.

A UE Gen 4 Servo Saver will help ALOT. Replacing the servo with a stronger one will only make it wind out the servo saver worse... Try like a 15 tooth pinion...

Just installed the Hitec 645MG and MGT servo saver. It's much better now.
What is the setup for the E-Maxx? I can run 2X(3S Lipo packs @ 4000 mah) to give me either 6S @ 4000 or 3S @ 8000.
Motor, controller, pinion?

6S would require a different ESC and motor, but would be my choice.

That's what I was asking. The Mamba was just to play around with until my new setup arrives.
Assuming 6s:
