Opinions on the UBEC

I'm blowing all the dust off my 9920/7XL Twin Force and I am going to rewire it all.

From what I remember, it had radio problems, and I think it was because of my UBEC I had in it..

SO, do people actually use these UBECs? or does everyone seem to have problems with them? Am I better off just using a receiver pack?
