gm genius 80, kontronic twist 5500 - 10.11.2006, 08:31 AM

will this run in a 1/10th touring car?
is this motor compatible with this esc?
the motor pulls 50 amps and the speedo is rated 80 amps, so that should be fine.
gm genius 80 runs sensor and sensorless.
more info can be found here; http://shop.graupner.de/webuerp/servlet/AI?ARTN=2894
thank you.

i cant work out whether your answering your own question or not but anyways the gm genius will work pergfectly with the kontronik which is a very good 2 pole motor.
However there are better controllers for the money for example a mtroniks pro or my favorite the mamba max with its abilty to Be configured via a usb conection with the castle link software.

From what have seen of someone driving slow with a gm genius controller its not as smooth as the mamba max but i personally would like to know what sensorless controller is maybe the quark but there overprice and have bad cases for rc cars.

all in all so what do i recomend.

Well firstly I would definatly go with a mamba max controller.

if you can get a kontronik twist cheap then there great motors especially for touring 1/10th.

otherwise the mamba max 7700 combo is great for standard 6 cells or if you want the option for using 3s lipo the 5700 combo would still be really powerfull but have the option to possibbly vaporise your transmission with 3s.

I always thought it had a good case. Better than the warriors case, heatshrink!

I must be imagining the controller then that i have in my losi xxxt i have been told i have an vivid imagination but not that vivid.

If rc monster does not have it in stock then try starluckrc or just use google theres plenty of resellers at the moment.

The actual mamba max controller is in stock the combos are currently out of stock but for a 1/10th touring car a feigoa 380c would probably perform better anyways.

I'm pretty cautious buying stuff online, but will happily buy products from Mike (runs RC-Monster and this forum), and *cough* StarluckRC. You have nothing to worry about purchasing products from either, brilliant guys to deal with, well known and respected for very good reasons.

A Mamba Max controller would be your best bet. I've heard good things about the GM 80, but would still opt for the Mamba, its a brilliant controller, USB programmable (dead simple), and should handle any 1/10 without complaining, handles my 1:8 Savage fine. Smoothest sensorless controller i've ever driven, with great tech support and a very low price, just to top it off.

The twist motors are brilliant, I've seen a lower kv twist run in a TL01B, on 9 cell it was running 60mph+ all evening without heat issues. But, the 380C motors are also very good for 1:10 touring, although not quite as efficent. Keeping cost in mind I'd recommend a Mamba 5700, 380C-6T or Lehner Basic 5300 for a touring car. Mamba 7700 if you wanna go all out, and don't plan to run high voltage down the line.

maybe i should just wait a while till the mamba max is avaible at my lhs.
seems like everyone likes it best.
but what i like about the genius is it can run sensor and sensorless motors.
i mean with the sensors actually pluged in.:005:
