Talked to Castle About Monster Maxx -
10.22.2006, 04:38 PM
I was at the International Hobby Expo in Chicago this weekend. Of course Castle Creations was there. I started asking questions about the Monster Maxx and at first they were not willing to provide much info on the new systems capabilities. But I kept probing with questions about small details and I got a little info that I thought that you all might find interesting.
I told them I was putting together a system and was trying to decide if I should wait for the Monster Maxx to come out or just go with something else and that if it was going to be in the next few months I would wait. The response was "I wouldn't wait then, I'd be surprised if was before next summer".
Then in talking about the system I wanted to set up I was discussing options on the market for controllers and I told him I wanted to run either 5s or 6s lipo. He then whispered "if you go with 5s and a high efficiency motor like a Nue, you can run the Mamba Maxx with an external BEC and it will handle it, but thats unofficial and I can't say that so don't tell anyone" (as he smiled). Then I asked if I want 6s I should wait for the Monster Maxx. He said "yea".
Not sure if this is new info, but I thought some of you might be interested in the hint at timing and 6s capability of the Monster maxx and also outside the specs capability of the Mamba maxx.

I wouldn't say for sure.... But with the right setup he seemed to think it would. I'm sure it was base on some knowledge of testing.
I asked him about a low voltage cut off for 5s and he thought that there would be a way to set it manually for 15V. He said if I sent him an email next week he would try and find about the manual low voltage cut off setting for 5s.

this might give us all a hint about how incredible the Monster Max might turn out.
I believe that we can easily use 7-9s easily with the monster max and the price wont go real high, about 220-250 dollars, which is amazing for a highend piece of technology.
The name is Alawi. You can call me Al.
Nice to meet you!

I hope you're right. If they make us wait this long, it better be good :027:
If they can produce the HV110, they should be able to make one for cars too...

I'm hoping that they are on the market by the beginning of the race season next spring. Anything sooner is a bonus.

The production Mamba Max units started shipping two or three weeks after the beta testing period ended. Unless there are big problems with the MMM, it too should come out about two or three weeks after beta testing.

The focus for the MMM seems to be the ESCs. But I also wonder how good their bundled motors will be? The MM motors aren't bad at all. They seem like a very good fit for their intended purpose. Of course, most people may simply choose their own motor like the Neu instead, but this will hopefully be a fairly inexpensive competitor to the HV stuff...

According to what i hear, they will be XL sized. If they are as good as the cm36 motors, I don't think you will ever need another
