What kind of setup Bl revo - 11.11.2006, 03:59 PM

Hello,

this is my first post on this forum so hello tho everyone!
I thinks this is a great forum!

now lets get to the point, I want to build a BL revo.
I wan't to design my own frame for a center diff (ofna?).

this will be my firts BL car so I will need your advice on gearing and motor.

so here's a list of the things I need your help with:
- what diff will I have to use (how many tooth)?
- are there any dogbones I can use (frame will be the same length as the 3.3)
- what motor pinion?
- what motor, ...xl?
- I want to use a 9920 esc
- I'll be using 12/14/16 cells (frame will be desinged for 16 cells)

I hope you guys can help me with this!

greetings remie

The one Dafni sells is the the G2r frame of g-maxx

- an Ofna diff with a 51t plastic spur would be the best
- the dogbones; you need to measure yourself what size you need. Mike can hook you up with any length of bone you need
- depending on the motor/speedo/demanded speed/amount of cells you determine what pinion you need.
- Yes, an XL would be a good choice, considering it's price. If you can swing it, a Neu is one of the best motors money can buy for an honest price.
- Okay, not a problem
- 12- 14 and 16 cells? that will require different gearing. Point 3 will need some changing because of this.

14 cells is nice for an MT. You need proper cells.

and if the frame needs to be designed, you can also look at excising dog-bones for your project.

Welcome to the forum you fellow Dutchy..

true. The neu requires either a mambamaxx, quark or an MGM controller

a little update here.
I've bought a second hand revo ( have top pick it up though).
Now I will have to wait for someone to buy my plane before I can buy the rest of the stuff.

but here's my setup so far:
- diff with a 51t plastic spur
- dogbones from mike/rc-monster
- what motor pinion (mod1 pinion?)?
- what motor, ...xl?
- I want to use a 9920 esc
- I'll be using 14 cells

so I still need some advice on the motor and the motor pinion.
what will be the difference between the 8xl and the 9xl?

You bought it from jasper by any change?

the 9XL would be okay for that setup. 9920 is more than okay with that setup.

No I've bought it frome some other guy.

Jasper is on a break with his project.

ps. what's the difference between a 8xl and 9xl?

if I use the 8xl I will have a higher topspeed and less run time?
and when I will use the 9xl I will have a lower top and longer run time?
si that correct?

Yeah i know. Jasper has got the hots for a bike..

the rpm's per volt differ. while one is faster, it gives less runtime.

Any idea how you fix your batteries to the chassis?

I can make/design some nice battery clamps since I'm going to design a chassis, but my first thoughts where using velcro straps.

planning on designing an entire chassis or do you leave the original chassis in tact? (this confuses me a bit, since you asked for the specific length of the dogbones, which is a large variable when you make a custom chassis)

I want to design a entire chassis.

I asked wich dogbones to use because I'm planning to make it the same length as the 3.3 chassis (is that the same lengt as the gorrillamaxx chassis?)
since I've bought a 2.5 revo I don't now what the length is from the dogbones from the 3.3 chassis

It's about the same length.

You can use the setback rear-arms for the stock suspension.

But some truggyracers make their truggies actually shorter instead of longer. Since you are using a centerdiff, the wheelie-issue is no longer a concern..
