Hi Jammin.

Welcome to the forum.

What you need;

Plastic spur (such as the kyosho 46t)
motor
controller
batteries

If you want to go lightweight, Lipo is the way to go. A 5S setup is rapid fast, but i don't know what you are looking for in speed?

Lipo's are quite easy to work with, they are easy to make trays for.

How much do you want to invest?

If weight is a concern, I would run 4S...Probably Flightpowers with a Neu 1515 and a Mamba Max ESC.

Check out the threads here on crt conversions for some good setup examples. Then you can ask specific questions to nail down the setup you want.

That will be more efficient than going round and round looking for ideas.

I will add here that if you want a light setup, batteries will be by far the biggest factor, and I would suggest the flightpower, orion, kokam cells. They can be run in a 4s 4800mah (4s1p) pack so they will be very light, yet still easily have the power you need. Most other cells need to be run in 8000+mah to be able to handle the power demands.

...glassdoctor sorry to be a pita but could you possibly post a link for the best batteries YOU would recommend? The Kokam or otherwise? I am still on the fence RE: these and I may as well as ask the best :032:

www.kokamamerica.com

The site is a mess... call and ask for Larry. Shawn Palmer swears these are the best lipos he has ever ran by a long shot. And they say they don't flame if punctured and tend to withstand more abuse of all kinds compared to other lipos. These are the cells that Orion and Peak use in those carbon fiber case packs. I have talked to Shawn and Larry at KokamAmerica a lot about these but I haven't got any yet because I already have a bunch of barely used maxamps cells and it's not race season here. I plan to try some in the summer.

I can't remember the sites I've seen the flightpowers for sale. I have read about them on rcgroups.com and other places. I just saw an ad for flightpowers in a hard case like the Orions the other day... if I see it or remember where I will post it.

Hope that is of some help... I'm kinda stressed right now... just wrecked my car tonight.... :(

...Thanks for taking the time to answer GD...Appreciate it...Now go look after whats important...we ARE talking about your 1:1 car now arent we? Stay safe...

EDIT: Oh wow they are a Korean company...That puts them MUCH closer to me than a North American brand...kinda stoked about that...might just be what i need to go lipo...
