Single Speed - 11.16.2006, 05:31 PM

When slowly I turn the shafts on my single speed the action is kind of rachety, but when I turn it faster it smoothens out. Is this normal? I took apart and reassembled it several times but get the same results. I have the steel idler.

Pulled it appart again and the teeth on each gear looks clean and uniform. With the plate pressed against the case the gears are smooth, but once I tighten the screws thats when the action is rough.
