Final decision Quark 125B vs MGM 16cell 160A -
01.15.2007, 08:01 AM
Need to make final decision between controllers for 8XL motor with 14-16cells (do not plan to increase the cell count)
they cost about the same and i just realized that the MGM is a Czech company which would simplify service

The Quark would be my choice, but the MGM is quite good as well. However, you'll get smoother operation out of the quark.

Nice to meet you!

I like my MGM. With your setup you can run it without a fan. I also like the replaceable motor and battery leads. Saves trouble when you constantly abuse your truck!

I've had both, the Quark will overheat without modifacation, the MGM wont but is a real pain to program (unless they have come out with the PC progaming upgrade) and has poor instructions. The Quark is smoother, the MGM more adjustable. I like the Mamba Max the best but it is limited to 4s lipo and 14 cells NIHM if you run a BEC. It also cogs the most at startup. I ran mine for a few high speed passes on 16 cells with no problems but wouldnt advise it. It is also less than half the price of the other controllers:018:

you will like the hb diffs and hybrids but you need a set of bearngs for the pinion for all of them to work 4 bearings actually to accomidate the bigger pinion size.

well i ordered 10 bearings so 2 should be as spare - 4 per diff if i am right
edit//just recieved diffs and they already have 2 bearings so i will actually need just 4 bearing for the pinions
