another bl crt question - 01.17.2007, 09:36 AM

i am just finishing my bl crt conversion and have a question about lipos.
should i run one 14.8v lipo or two 7.4 v lipos? assuming they both have a high discharge rate, would the dual packs be able to handle the larger load?
my battery choices are maxamps 14.8v 10000mah or two maxamps 7.4v 10000 mah packs, what would you guys recommend
thanks
jim

It shouldnt matter electrically. Once you wire the 2 7.4V packs in series it will be exactly the same as one big pack.

Just whatever fits better.

I am choosing 4S1P i mean in one pack, its more simple. Less Wires, Les movmets to change battery etc.
Only one thing what u need to do, arrange ur weight on chassis correctly

Just depends on how you want the chassis layout.... can you fit a single pack better or a split saddle pack better?

I like the single pack for clean install... less wires etc... but the saddle pack makes it easier to balance the car, and cram more battery without having a monster-size lump-o-battery...

On one of my 1/8 buggies that uses only a single 4s pack, I have had trouble with the pack over heating towards the end of the run. I am now using a Flight Power 4s 3700mah which is better, but I feel like I still need to watch it. I think it is the amp spikes that cause the heat. The CRT is a big vehicle for only a single 4s pack.

if its a 20C pack that means it should be rated for 74A constant and 30C (111A) burst. I see spikes of over 120A on my 1/8 buggy on a 4350mah 5s pack. You are for sure pushing that pack. But it should be able to do it. The flightpowers are the best lipos out there right now.
