Hi. I've been bust building up my new gorillamaxx, but have come across a rather serious problem. At full throw the steering bell crank arm that attaches to the turn buckle & then the servo horn/saver fouls the front propshaft- by quite a bit. It seems to be at just the right height to push the shaft over to one side ( its not attached to the diff yet- no bulkheads). There's no way to lower the bellcranks without some major bodging, so the only alternative is to adjust the amount of left & right throw on the radio (I have a lazer 6). Has anyone had similar problems, any suggestions/ help would be greatly appreciated. I have the G2 chassis & G3 racing skids, and the GPM alloy steering bellcranks.

I have considered getting some nice skinny cvds which would solve the problem, but I dont want to go spending too many more ££/$$.

Sorry, I am not familiar with that setup, but looking at the pics, it's obvious what's going on. Is that arm (the one attached to the turnbuckle end) seperate from the rest of the steering mech? Maybe you can turn it 90 degrees and redo the linkages accordingly. Or maybe the steering mech can be flipped up-side down?

you have it mounted right, so your all good there, for one thing it will travel that far because you have no servo on it or the rest of the suspension as well, also your steering knuckles will not travel that far either, and I just looked at my gmaxx, and from L to R it comes within 3mm or so from touching the diff housing,( behind the diff cup if you use cvd's or on your case the stock axles, so there is no need to worry about it hitting, once it is all together, get it centered up, then center your servo, then attach it to the proline servo saver, and from there adj. your turnbuckles that go out toward the knuckles and get them nice & straight as well....if you do it in this order, you should be fine.....

This is just a suggestion im putting out; get a UE servo saver, the GPM stuff sucks.


The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

After I've sold one of my kidneys I will have enough money to.

I have set up the radio gear and even then the arm still comes over too far and touches the slider shaft- its only by about 3-4mm , buts that enough to mess things up badly. As for flipping it, no can do since the arm would strike the lower leg of the x-brace, and it isnt detachable either. The Ue seems to have a shorter rear arm bit, so it doesnt come over close enough to foul the slider shaft/ dogbone, but it just isnt an option. Needless to say I will have a play with some spacers and see what I can come up with- I believe there is a guy on here somewhere with a near identical set up to mine, french guy called Juju- I have emailed him so hopefully he can give me some tips too.

are you trying to do this with out the front end installed if so, that is some of your problem...trust me, put the frontend on & see what happens

Im waiting for an order from 2coolrc-FLM bulkheads and 14mm hexes. When they arrive (hopefully very soon) I will have another go, but it should make much difference since the prop is centered, and is in the same positiojn as it would be in a completed truck- the arm still fouls it so it may be that the GPM is abit high- I will fix it though- I good at bodging. Cheers.
