***Emaxx...newbie needs help with setup...just bought some stuff***

hey guys. i'm absolutely new to the RC world. this stuff is amazing. i think i may go broke this year. :-) anyway...a few of my friends bought emaxxs and i just picked one up on ebay. waiting for it to come in. it's coming with aftermarket parts. please help with recommendations. what would you keep on it...what would you get rid of? what upgrades do you recommend? i'm willing to spend more so let me have it. here's what i will be getting...

any other recommendations as far as websites with good info, magazines i should keep up with?

side question...what's an inexpensive fun rc car i can buy for the house? it's a single story with no steps. i've got tile in all the walkways and low pile carpet in the living areas. maybe something i can use in the street/sidewalk/driveway also. a drift setup looked pretty fun.

Welcome to the forum!

You did a good thing not installing the integy arms. the integy bulks/towers are relative weak, if you land on the roof, you most likely will bent a tower or break a bulk. The bulks of FLM are machined, while the integy's are molded.

The shocks are not the strongest out there either, good shocks for an e-maxx are either Traxxas big bores, UE shocks or proline powerstrokes.

I personally like rc-caraction.

Missing some info on your brushless setup! LOL, what are you looking for in speed/runtime?

what do you recommend replacing the bulks/towers with? is everything else on the truck okay? what's wrong with the Integy A arms?

what does FLM and UE stand for?

i do plan to go brushless. how much am i looking to spend? what parts will i need? how fast can it go?

if you wanna drift high power touring cars your ganna need a belt drive.
shafts have trumendous torque steer. unbelieveble
look at the hpi sprint 2 drift, tamiya ta05, hotbodies cyclone s.
those would all be good.
also for racing belts rule.period.

nice buy how much did you get if for

GMaxx360...what is your recommendation on my setup. what would you change...what would you keep? i've read a few other of your posts and you have a lot of good recommendations. i'm waiting for gorilla maxx to come out with their new setups. ooooo...i love the limited ed red chassis they had. i hope they come out with that again.

i actually had to purchase 2 auctions to get everything that i wanted. so there are other parts that i didn't mention in this post. i'm going to setup the second truck with misc parts and a few batteries and sell that to another buddy of mine that's getting into this as well. my net cost for everything will be just over $400 for everything inc shipping costs.

Yeah, it would be the best thing to do IMO, wait with replacement untill it needs to be replaced.

Sooner or later diffs will fail, and there are a lot of upgrade options available.

For a good and fast setup, for a relative low price, a mamba-maxx, Wanderer 8XL and 4S lipo's would be a nice combination. With that mamba controller you need an external receiver pack or a UBEC.

read the sticky in the brushless section about some BL basics, it would be good start.

the power comes from the batteries. if you have got 12-14 good cells you can get a fair speed/runtime. the price for a BL setup would be about 225dollars if you have got the batteries.

with Lipo's you need a special charger, and the price of lipo's is higher.

Welcome! Well, there seems to be a lot of aluminum on there for stock. The thing is, with Integy parts, they LOOK nice, but have no strength. if you are going aluminum, go FLM as they are the best bang for the buck. As far as set up for BL, that would depend on what you are looking for and the batts you are going to use. The batts are everything, so get good batts! A nice start up system for BL would be the 9920 or MM, ubec and 7xl on 14cells of good batts, like GP 3300's. I run an RC18T in my apartment, good litle truck, but if are racing it, you may want something bigger! lol
Also, with BL, you may want to beef up your drive train, a good inexpensive way to do this is go 3.3 stock stuff....can't beat it! So, if you want a good buck for the bang, get FLM bulks and towers, RPM or stock 3.3 arms and shafts, single speed tranny, maybe even an FLM chassis would be good too. That's all I can think of right now...LOL
