PowerStroke's minus the by-pass - 02.07.2007, 10:43 PM

I have been considering switching to 1/8th buggy shocks for my E-Maxx. And only going w/ 4 shocks total.

I also researched all 11 pages in this section and saw where a few were ditching the bypass shocks and just running the 4 Powerstroke shocks.

Is this a good idea? What springs should I use, color & firmness?? What weight oil should I use for this set-up? Does anyone know if really works very well? I'm willing to give it a try.

I also found some going with 4 Revo shocks but losing a bit of travel.

Any thoughts?

I would like to try the 4 Revo shocks, perhaps with G-Maxx or Duh! Engineering towers. But yes, the 4 Powerstrokes work GREAT. I would run around 40-50 weight oil and probably stock springs, depending on the weight of the truck.

or try some ofna 12mm shocks, or 13mm if ya wanna spend more. the front shocks are the same as the stock shocks and work with stock type towers, the rears work if your using a taller tower like the flm.
UE uses ofna shocks.

heres mine with the long shocks.

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

The one shock per corner with PowerStrokes is working out nicely at the track. I havnt even changed out the old shock oil yet.

Still runnning the stock springs.

With the Powerstrokes, the By-Pass socks only affected dampening, so when removed, you just have to thicken the oil in the Coil-Over's. There is no need to change spring rate. Otherwise, they will work great. The only thing you loose is the progressive dampening.

I was told not to put higher than 30wt oil in the powerstroke shocks, because it can blow the bottom seal out.
Has anyone heard of that happening? I hope it's not true, because 30wt seems to thin in my E-maxx.
