I ran my CRT with my Mamba Maxx esc Sunday and I have a few questions.

1. In order to get it programmed I had to set my throttle channel to reverse but to correctly run the CRT I had to switch the radio back to normal? I am using the software that came with the controller as I have heard the update has problems. The only setting I changed was to auto lipo cut off.

If I tried to program the controller with the radio normal it would only do forward an not reverse. If i don't switch the radio back to normal it brakes switching from reverse to forward not forward to reverse. By the way I am using a JR xr3 radio.

2. My radio range is about 50ft then the controller starts to glitch badly if I stay within the 50ft it runs fine. The receiver is a Novak xxl which has always worked great for me.

3. The system got hot enought to unsolder a battery connector. I use power pole connectors on Orion 4800 lipo batteries wired in series (controller + to battery 1 +, battery 1 - to battery 2 +, battery 2 - to controller -) is this the correct way to wire the two packs? My gearing is 12/51 in the center with the hot bodies 43/10 gearing front and rear.

4. I direct soldered the esc to the Fieago 9xl motor as I could not get 4mm male bullet connectors. (any one know where to get these?)

1 switch 2 of the three motor wires around, that way you can run it appropriate. Appearantly you are running with a reversed throttle channel now
2 check if the antenna is routed so it stays free from aluminum/metal. Put the receiver as far away from the motor/controller as possible
3 I would say a poor connection; this results in unsoldering. Normally powerpoles are shrinked onto the wires. Shrinking and soldering is the best way IMO. A wire that get's hot is the result of a too thin wire. A connection that gets unsoldered is the result of a poor contact.
4 yes, Mike has got them (site/shop owner). Otherwise you can buy a set of male/female, and use the males as spares for your orion batteries.

Are you running a futaba? If so you need to leave the radio in reverse and switch the wires like Serum said. Futaba seems to be the only one you got to do this with

edit: sorry didn't read it completely, I have never had troubles with a JR and mamba max (i have a JR XS3). I have had troubles with novak SS5800's and JR. how far are the esc and reciever apart

When I we first did the conversion on a Losi 8ight with MM controller and Feigao 8XL, we were using a JR XS3. It did the same thing that you are having trouble with. Up close, everything was fine. Once we put it out on the track, it glitched like crazy. We had the motor on the passenger side of the buggy with the esc right next to it, just in front of the rear support at the back of the buggy. We had the receiver at the front of the buggy on the driver's side. This was as far away from each other that we could place the esc, motor, and receiver. It still glitched. Ultimately, we had to put a Spektrum radio into the buggy. When we did this, all problems disappeared.

The motor is mounted on the drivers front corner and the receiver is just in front of the rear diff mount between the battery and the drive shaft.

I hope it's not the radio. I was thinking it may be the motor to esc connections so I ordered some 4mm male bullet connectors to try instead of directly soldering the wires with a female sleeve.

I also plan to try a different receiver and if that dosent work I will borrow a radio and receiver to try.
