I need a brushyles setup for this 4-tec i got off ebay. Would like to spend as little as possible, what should I go with. Also will anything need to be upgraded due to the performanc increase?

I don't know what the limits are for the 4-tec... I would not go too extreme with this car. The nitro version was built to take soem serious power but not sure about the electric one.

A Mamba Max would be a great choice and it's also one of the cheapest. THe motor choice depends on what battery you will be using... and what type of driving you want to do...

For now just using NiMH, primarily driving for fun but want some good speed.

I would say drop in a MM 5700 or 6900 system. Both will be fast... ;) They have been going for under $200 lately even my LHS had one for a stupid cheap $179 a couple weeks ago.

But even at $212 it's the best deal going....

i would n't expect too much from it. i had a stock one and managed to strip a front differential plus its belt drive with no way of tightening tension. i think a brushless would destroy the drive train in one of those.

The electric drivetrain is almost identical to the nitro version.

If the drivetrain is the same, then you can put pretty much any motor in there.... I'd recomend the Mamba MAx 5700 on 3s if you really want a lot of speed.:027:

If you're going to go brushless the novak would be better. I tryed a 10 turn triple brushed in mine, it split the diff and spit balls at me, literally stripped the diff halves

There is a difference, the 4 tec electric is almost identical to the RS4 where the nitro 4 tec is a three belt system like an R40

I wouldn't go brushless without upgrading the differentials to the pro ones that are found in the nitro 4-tec.

The nitro diffs fit without any problems. I would upgrade to them and then go brushless. And the nitro diffs only cost somewhere around $25.

So upgrade the diffs and i'll be in good shape. Would i be able to go with the higher 7700 then or whats really the difference in them.
