A Saturday well spent! - 04.16.2007, 11:33 AM

My team from work went offshore fishing on Saturday. It was an incredible morale boosting event. We caught a bunch of king fish, a 4.5 foot Wahoo, and a 69 inch sailfish!!! The captain kept the kingfish for bait, we kept the Wahoo for lunch and released the sailfish back to the ocean after a photo op. I'm the fat guy with the straw hat.

The fish:

The team: we took turns reeling after the first time the fish jumped so we all had a chanse to fight!

Wahoo!!!

Wahoo!!! lunch time

I seasoned 1/2 the fish with blackened seaoning and for the other 1/2 I made a marinade of honey, dijon mustard, chopped garlic, and tamari. It fed 7 people! The pic on the grill is only 1/2 of the wahoo, we cooked him in 2 sessions so the vegies wre ready to serve with the fish each time.

AWESOME! As a fellow fisher, I've always dreamed of going offshore fishing, but I don't eat fish, lol. Nothing wrong with catch and release though. So was it really that fun?

It was a great time! The only fish we kept was the Wahoo. the boat captain kept a few of the king fish to use as bait for his next trip out. The rest were all catch and release to let the next guy out there have some fun reeling them in.

I have never fished in my life, but have always wanted to try. However, I eat all sea food.

Glad you had a good time.
