Has anyone tried Mike's Revo mount in a Jato 3.3 chassis? :eek:

i duno about the mount, but idk how well a 7700 will do in a jato, it might be a hot runner

Think it's too heavy? Would a Rusty be a better choice?

Maybe Ebay the motor and put the money toward an 8XL or 9XL motor?

well i know brian runs a 4600 and it runs good, with heatsinks, u would have to ask, my buddy runs a 7700 in a rusty, but still i would run a 5700, or a 4600

u dont need a xl for a jato, maybe a l can and gear it uo for high speed, but id say a 4600, pm brian g

Well, if I sell it, I'll use another motor I could use in my Revo, so it sounds like it would be over motored. Although, I could use the MM software to "de-tune" it slightly, couldn't I? It should run cool right? Would probably be an 8XL of some sort, on 7 cells.

The Mamba Max motors should work fine in a Jato. The 7700 would be the fastest if you were running 7 cells, although it may run a bit hot. Set motor timing to lowest to help. The 5700 was respectable on 6 cells in my MT2 (heavier than Jato and 4wd) before I went 3s lipo on it.

lol, an XL is WAYYY too much motor for a Jato. About the only good thing about an XL motor on a jato would be to add weight in the rear end. The 4600 MM motor on 4s with decent gearing would be insane. Better get those tires duct-taped. :)

On 2s with the 4600 and tall gearing, I get ~45mph. It runs fine and temps are good too (much to my amazement really). Weight is around 4.5lbs IIRC loaded with 2s2p emoli. I'm thinking about redoing the battery and ESC/radio mount so I can use regular lipos for less weight.

I don't really want to go through the hassle of selling one MM motor to just buy a milder one. Can I de-tune it to the point that it performs like the 4600? Also, Brian, any idea about Mike's motor mount?

I just ran a couple of calculations, what do you guys think about running it on 4 cells or the lipo equivalent?

no its not de tuning, its the motor does NOT have the torque to move that jato efficient compared to a 4600

and 4 cell lipo? or nimh, if u were doin nimh atleast 6 cells, or a 2 cell lipo

A 7700 on 7 cells would be foolish.

The MM bearings would not last too long running at 65,000 rpm (as good as they are).

ur forgetting tho the jato is prety big, the 7700 wouldnt push it like a 4600 would on a 3 cell lipo

Gearing can "adjust" for the relative weight of the Jato E-Maxx Rocks. However the 7700 is better suited to lower voltages. That's one of the keys here.

i think emaxx is right, my bling 4 has the 7700, and i have geared up pretty high and in that light car it still heats the esc up pretty good so i think if he geared it down it would work but not very good.

Yes, and no.

Most high Kv motors heat up quickly, even under a light load. At 7.2v the 7700 will spin 55,440 rpm!

Compare that to the 4600 at 33,120 rpm for the same voltage.

The motor will naturally heat up with the additional voltage and related rpm. Consider the additional heat by the controller having to process 60% more and you can see why lower Kv motors with high Amp capacity batteries have an advantage.
