Hyper 7 Diff - 05.18.2007, 11:54 PM

I purchased a Hyper 7 roller from someone to do a Brushless Conversion. I took the center diff apart and it does not appear that I can replace the metal spur with a plastic one.

I tried finding a pic of the diff on line (no cam) and I was unable to do so.

Does anyone know what type of diff this is? Am I just missing something obvious? Do I need to get a new center diff?

Welcome to the forums!

Actually, I have a Hyper8 (which uses the same diff) and both the 44T and 46T Kyosho spurs DO fit. You might need to pick up a pack of Ofna diff gaskets to shim the spur a little though.

Thanks for the quick reply. Its not that I do not hink the plastic spur will fit, it does not appear I can remove the spur from the housing. After takig it apart, ther does not appear to be a way ro just replace the gear???

1: Remove the spur from the cup by removing the 4 screws.

2: Pull the inner bevel gear off the spur (might have to gently pry with a small flat-bladed screwdriver).

3: Slide the pin out.

4: Pull the outdrive out. Don't forget the little orange O-ring.

Do you have pics by any chance on what I am "prying" off. I think that is my issue! I do not want to pry anything off, obviously I am new to 1/8th scale and I did not want to damage the diff.

Thanks

Well, it's the only bevel gear that is attached to the spur when you pull it off.

Thanks for the exploded view... I think I am on my way to disassembling the diff again.

What BL setup do you use in you Hyper 8?

Your help is much appreciated.

very nice. I actually have your page bookmarked from previous browsing, just did not realize it was your work. (never clicked the "my Brushless..." link)

thanks for your time.

Thanks!

Mike (site owner) can make the mount, but it's not in the store yet. It was a custom job. Email him and he'll let you know the price and stuff...
