A few daft questions... - 06.15.2007, 07:39 PM

1. Will the HvMaxx esc run a sensorless motor? If so, ignoring the cogging issues that may arrise, would it be worth trying & what XL motor would be best, takig into account amps draw & voltage limitations.

2. To give an Emaxx 1/8 diffs you currently need to get the FLM hybrid bulks and HB diff. Would it be physically possible however, to make a case for the HB diff that would work with standard type Maxx bulks- basically a 'drop-in' diff upgrade like has been made by Mike for the Revo?

3. I think it was GriffinRU who did some initial testing, so this ones aimed at him really; if you did the internal pcb 'beefing up', and maybe changed the capacitor for a 35v version, will the HvMaxx esc handle 16 or even 18cells+ without any issues such as thermalling/blowing up? I like this idea alot since I could then use a couple 8cells packs, or even 3 6cell packs (provided I geared down a bit to avoid killing the HvMaxx motor). Or one could even use 18 cells to power an 8 pr 9XL motor, if the esc could run it...

4. Along those lines, would it be better to use a ubec with the HvMaxx on 14/16 cells- Im thinking it would be better on the esc since the inbuilt bec is not the switching type, and only gives 3amps to the steering servo via the receiver.

I thank you all for your input.:018:

Wow, a question posted yesterday and no answers other than your own?! Come on guys, help him out! I'd try but have no experience with emaxx. But I can double-confirm that the HVMaxx ESC cannot run sensorless motors. Rule of thumb: sensorless ESCs can run any BL motor, sensored ESCs can only run sensored motors.

And yes, you should use a UBEC on anything over 2s.

I can't remember who makes them, but yes they do make diff cases to fit 1/8th diffs and standard style bulks, a few guys at racing have had them.
*edit* I think UE is one of the companies that make them, not sure if they fit diffs other than UE though.

The diff cases are UE parts, I got a 6 spider setup in mine but if you could get the cases, i'm sure other diffs will fit

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

I was worried someone might say UE diffs. They are very very nice, and I know the Candyman uses/used them, but man- $$$, and they are extremely hard to aquire since UE doesnt sell outside of the states- mike can get them though which is handy. Still, would be nice to get a case made that would fit the HB diff in normal maxx bulks. Then again, the 3.3 diffs may be fine and last for years with the HvMaxx powering the truck- I could be worrying over nothing. I think I may well get a ubec/pro bec too- just need to see if I can source one in the UK first.

Just need to find out if the HvMaxx esc can take 18 cells, although with the 6.5 motor, that may be over revving it a bit. 16 cells is fine though apparently, so long as you keep 6 on the capacitor side, and the over 10 on other lead, or something like that.
