Cooked Lehner 1940 - Opened Up! - 06.22.2007, 11:45 AM

Ok, here's some photos of my Lehner 1940 opened up. When I opened it up it smelled like bong resin - real nice :020: . Took me back to my college days.

Anyway, if you can't tell from the photos, the interior copper wire had some black spots, and it was the worst at the rear of the motor where the wires come out. I almost think there was a short of some kind. Some of you might remember that when I first got it it sounded like there was a rubbing sound when I would spin the shaft. Well, I think that might have had something to do with it. Anyway, take a look and let me know your thoughts.

That's cool! I wonder if that rotor would fit in a regular XL or L motor can? It would really help efficiency I would think - if it fits.

Yeah, good question. The only problem is how well the magnet held up. It still seems to have a strong pull to it, but the thing got up to 232 degrees. I'm pretty sure it has some damage.

I guess I could try. I'll go on their website and see if I can find something. Who knows, maybe I'll be surprised. I'm assuming they'll say to send them the motor and then I'll have to wait for a couple months.

Doesn't the magnet seem a bit blacked up?

the magnet is black cuz one of the windings came out.. and was rubbing on the magnet.. and Lehner won't reply.. I've sent them numerous emails... exact same thing happened to my 2280...

it's just a screw one, it's easy to open..

Yep, screwed right off no problem. A lot easier than I thought it would be.

I sent them an e-mail but I'm not expecting anything. From what I understand their customer service is lame. I would love to be surprised though.

He said he felt the rotor was rubbing. It means one of the windings were loose and it's on touch with the rotor....hmmm...is lehner starting to wane?
