Anyone here thought of, or are currently, making their own LI/POLY packs??

I may try some out. You can build your own 4S4P for around $144 bucks
that would be a 14.8v @9000mah peak current at 132 amps burst or approx 60 amps continuous

or a 5S5P would come out to $179.90
18.5v @ 11250mah peak current at 165 amps burst
75 amps continuous

I bet we could get a good bulk buy package price from them.
anyone interested.
I'll look into a welder for custom making packs and adding balancers into a pack

I have built my own Lipo pack using those cells. It is a 3s2p. The cells really are great, and even have taken some damage (which is known to make them puff, but I got lucky). Just so you know, your prices are way off. For a pack, you multiply the "s" number by the "p" number. For example, you have 4 "p" blocks which consist of 4 cells in parallel. The 4 blocks are then put in series to give 14.8v. So, for a 4s4p, you need a total of 16 cells, bringing it to $280. For a 5s5p pack, it would cost $450. If you would like some further explaining, I can draw up some pictures for you.

Your calculations are wrong. A 5S5P would take 450 dollars.

What you calculated is a 5S2P... (you need 25 cells for a 5s5p pack..)

Soldering them is not a problem though.. Maxamps can do it for you.

They do charge a little extra for that though. But, they would most likely cut a deal because the pack is so large. They cut me ~$15 when I ordered 6 2250mah cells.

I have been doin nothin but research this for the last few weeks
I'm gonna give it a whirl
Tell me if I got it right fellas.
It appears that it is smarter (performs better)to go with the LIPO's (Kokams) that have the highest "C" rating or ability to release there voltage at the highest current rate and then add another set of them in parallel to get the longer MAH rating.....for instance...... you can get a group of cells from polyquest that each cell has a rating of 6000 mah.....the high MAH was the most significant factor in battery selection before ........but these polyquest cells only have the ability to release there stored voltage at a discharge rate of 15 to 18 "C" which will be significantly less amperage to your motor than a KOKAM 3200 mah 20 "C" pack. They both will deliver the voltage..but the one with the highest "C" rating will get you the more "UUUMPPPPHH"
so now in order to match the polyquest 6000mah rating or its ability to retain its charge and voltage for longer run times you just add another set of KOKAM's in parallel and that will give you the 6400mah run time at the higher amperage "C" rating.

So for right now KOKAM 3200's in their SUPER HIGH DISCHARGE class or 20 "C" are the cell that is on top

Your ideas are correct for the most part. a 6400mah pack would still be capable of 20C though (128amps). But, the Kokam 3200mah 20C packs actually only give out ~3000mah. But it seems like these cells are very good for use with RC cars because they can take high burst currents.

Never mind the output current isn't high enough.
what would give me about 20 min run time with a Warrior 7018 and a Feiago 8s

What vehicle? Those packs would deliver the current in a small vehicle like a rustler or pede and could probably make a 20 minute run with the right gearing as well.
