E- maxx lipo set up w\HV novak - 09.03.2007, 12:15 AM

Hello,
I just picked up my first E-maxx. It is used and has a HV4400 brushless system on it. I want to power the system with 2 lipo batteries. What is the most it can handle safley?

thanks

The most it can handle is 4S, or 2S per side.

That would be perfect. Just make sure that dimension wise, it fits into the battery tray, unless you buy an after market chassis, then any battery will fit for the most part.

I would instead get some TrackPowers, but the ones you listed should work fine.

I have one other question
Which novak lipo cutt off would I need? If I ran 2 7.4 lipo packs? would it be 2 of the 2s cuttoffs or one of the 4c cutoffs?

Thanks

I wouldn't go with a Novak. There are other LVC's that are much better.

Better how? I've never had a problem with mine. I've got the 4S version and use my Revo exclusively with lipos.

You need the 4s cutoff. I use the Novak LVC and it works. I just don't like that it's not adjustable. The cutoff is 12.5v. I'd like to take it down to 12v.

Even at 12.5v cutoff, you aren't losing very much runtime at all; probably like 30 seconds if that. Lipos drop off rather quickly towards the end, which is why most people actually prefer a slightly higher cutoff. 12.5 @ 4s is 3.125v/cell, which is just about perfect IMO. And a higher cutoff is better for the pack...

Does anyone use another LVC? One that can be programmed?
Yes, the difference may be 30 seconds, but 30 seconds is a lap. I have my Mamba Max set at 11.8v in my 1/8 buggy. You can discharge LiPo to 2.7v per cell without doing damage.

I am using 2 x 7,4v Maxamps 6000 mah. and it is awesome.

I am also using the lisaver Mike has in his shop, but it make the E-maxx do alot of cogging, so nowI just drive it without the saver, and pay a lot of attention. I am also using the HV4400.

You can see which hopups I have made in the link in my signature.

Best regards
Jesper

Hey what is the lisaver do? i looked in the store and found it but there was not a definition of what is does?
is it a lipo cutt off?

I going to go the same route. I'm goint to use 2, 7.4 maxamp 6000 batts or 8000 if they will fit.

Thanks

it moniters the battery voltage and interupts the esc so the batterys do not get over discharged, which will ruin the batterys, i used one from novak, and it was very sensitive to back to back hard runs , which lowers the pack voltage and shut the esc down, i dont remember which one i used , i think it was the 2s one, if interested in the novaks email them directly, they will also let you know where to solder it on the esc. , but there are many available from other places
