I am hearing that the new mm have a FET change that cuts out from overvoltage, and won't even run 14 cell.
Is there any truth to this?

not likely, although there has been found to be two different fets in the MM... Joe from CC says there has been no change, and that it's just luck of the draw whether it works fine or not.

i got mine about 3 weeks ago and it works just fine on 14 cells (and they're matched packs, with each cell being an average of about 1.236 volts).
