Will this damage anything? - 09.26.2007, 11:31 PM

I just put my emaxx together,
I have an 8xl Fiegao, mamba max ESC, and 2 7.4 lipos for 14.8V. I took it on its first run and was a little disappointed on how fast is was. I thought it would be faster.

The question is, I have one 11.1v lipo lying around. If I hook up one 7.4 and the one 11.1v for 18.5V will that hurt any of my components? And would it wake it up, for a little more speed?

Anybody have any recommendations on a more explosive motor. I want to keep the mamba max ESC and I have 2 7.4v lipos and a one 11.1v lipo to use in any combination.

Thanks

No, only a few ppl have had success with running 5s lipo on the MM esc. This should be plenty power, try gearing your truck up... watch what happens.

I agree. For kicks and giggles what is the gearing your running at the moment?

I would only do the 5s, if the batteries were the same mah, same manufacturer is recomended as well. I run 5s on a MM and it did fine till summer, It gets a bit hot here for the MM to operate proper

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

What gears are you using? If your using the 8xl on 4s, with stock gearing it should be close in speed to 14 cells on the titans, there's still more room to gear up the 8XL.

I'll try gearing up.
Also another question, How can you make the right gear mesh with a 54 spur &18 or 20p ? The motor hits the trans case when you get close?

I'm running a 51 tooth ofna spur on mine, with no problems. Are you runing Jato gears on a revo type slipper? If so, you will not get it to work on a Emaxx tranny.

I found my problems and unlocked the speed.
Major rookie mistakes, Programmed the mamba max with 30% reverse and bought a new futaba and did not reverse the throttle.. forward meant backwards power- duh

The truck is flying now!!! Its got great punch
Using it made my day

yeah the brakes were touchy, it was an instant endo on the roof. For my 1st time ever using an emaxx, I said dam this brake locks-up fast
I was wondering why it kept looping out in reverse. I thought that was touchy too.
