You did a really clean job on the install. I like it alot. Very sweet. I saw Mikes extended chassis CRT.5 last week when he had it in town for the iHobby show. Its a hell of a nice job he did on that chassis.

One question though.... Why is everyone running these things on 2s? I run mine on 3s and it absolutly rips! Maybe I'm just a power junkie

I already had the Mamba 5700 and Mike designed the chassis to fit the 4200 2s2p perfectly with the Max behind it. He did, however, put two nice long lines of mounting holes to make it an easy swap to other battery configurations; just won't have alot of room left behind standard size 4-6000 mah cells. I don't think I would want the added wieght of 3s for racing purposes but it would'nt hurt my feelings if there was an L motor available with a kv around 5500; the mamba gets a pretty good workout.

That looks awesome. I can't wait to see it.

We're heading down tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon... just going to chill and help out with the track and get some practice in for a few days before the race. Looks like we'll be running in the same class (Open).. I think that's a first, right? Maybe not. Anyway, looks good, man. See you in the valley.

Its good to see there's quite a few guys from Texas here, would you guys mind shooting me a PM of the places to race down there and possibly a race schedule/class type? Thanks a bunch, and great lookin' CRT, extra clean install, I like.

How are the temps with the 5700? I tried both the 4600 and 5700 and both (and the ESC) got too hot for me, even on 2s geared 12T. An L motor with a kv of 5500 would be around 4 turn. That would pull quite a bit of current! 3s lets you use a lower kv motor to get the same speed and is easier to get the total power...

I agree Brian. It might cost you a little weight on the truck to go 3s, but I think the amp draw reduction would be worth it. My CRT.5 is running on 3s and a 3019kv Hacker 8L and the MM and running really hard nothing even gets more than warm. Maybe 110 on the motor and esc.

Our local(Corpus Christi) track is Starcar Raceway we usually race every 2nd and 4th Saturday and run 1/8, Monster, and 1/10th scale. We have been down on atendance for about a year and usualy only have 8-15 entries. Gears is the Harlingen track and is hosting the Roar region 9 electric race this weekend. Their schedule varies but you can keep up with both tracks at RCfiles:

And of coarse your probably familar with Toys4BigBoys in San Antonio which is the other track I race at most frequently:http://www.toys4bb.com/

Nice looking conversion, I am sure that it is better now for racing purposes. I still prefer my LS10, but it is a basher and lacks the center diff of the crt.5. I agree with brian on the higher voltage issues. How about running a 4s1p pack on a lower wind l motor? Those 2200 cells are good for 40 or so amps and that would be fine for a 11 or 12l can motor. Or even a low wind s can?! Not sure if the run time would be comparable. Or go with a lehner 1920/30 or neu1506 with a similar kv to the mm motor, would be cooler running and maybe scratch out a few more minutes out of that 4200 pack. The maxamps 2200 cells are good, I have a few 3s packs and they have been used in most of my rc collection!

I have'nt run with the Chassis and Truck tires yet. With the buggy rears and a 14 tooth pinion it would run upper 130s/motor, mid 140s to mid 150s/esc when I was really pushing it in 90 degree weather. With a little better throttle management and/or mid 70s evening temperatures I could keep both motor and esc 10-15 degrees cooler. I have a 13 on the new setup; hopefully it won't run too much hotter.
I certainly don't disagree with you or Hautz about the 3s/L motor being a better choice. It's a matter of what I had vs. how much more I could('nt) afford to spend.

How big are the differentials in comparison to 1/8 scale differentials?
