Pinion/ring gear lub, what did you use?? - 10.26.2007, 10:14 PM

The title speak for itself, i want to know which type of grease you use to lub you pinion/ring gear, in you diff case.
Not want to know which silicone fluid grade in your diff cup, but the grease using for the pinion/ring lubrication.

Thank you!

I like tamiya anti-wear grease, it is sticky and seems to lube well

I also use regular automotive synthetic wheel bearing grease, usually inside of non-sealed diffs, like that stampede you sold me.

I finally got the diff sorted so that it does not tear up internal gears every run!

What have you did to the diff to make it better?
When i've read that you had problems with the Hyperpede diff, i was very disapointed, because i've ride it only a pack or two before to send it to you

Main problem that I had was that the planetary gears inside the diff lost teeth. I cured it by replacing the metal diff case with the new vxl plastic case and use an old set of planetary gears that you sent me in that old diff. I then shimmed the diff inside the flm case until there was no slack. The i shimmed the diff oout put shafts so that the drive cups would not have any slack. I also removed your revo pind and used the stock set screw to hold the diff cup to the output shafts. The cups wobbled alot with the pin in them, and I think that was moving the internal gears around and knocking the teeth off. It is wobble free now and sound much better. I also put a plettenberg maximun in it and a modded MM on the 3s lipo you sent me.

I like the truck alot, just need to replace the tires, as I have worn them down already!

I think that the recent run of traxxas diff internal gears are too brittle, as I have gone thru 4 sets of them. The old set you sent me are in great shape and run very smooth in the vxl style diff case. They are shiny, the new gears are very dull and made of different metal too.

Thats the fun part, I love fixing rcs and modding them too.

I am trying to set some time aside to make a 1/6 scale tube buggy. It will use emaxx suspension and bl power! I have soome sand paddles and custom narrowed rib front tires for it. I think that it will be 2wd, and slightly smaller than a baja 5b!
