CC bec voltage? -
11.09.2007, 06:40 PM
What is the highest safe voltage I can set the CC bec for using a Spektrum reciever, JR 9000T servo, and Quark 125b esc? I'd like to give it a couple or even a few extra 1/10s of a volt but I'm not sure how far I can push it.

I run mine at 6.3. If you figure that a freashly peaked 5 cell Rx pack is easily over 7 volts it shouldnt hurt anything pushing it up a little oover 6v. The only thing is the Rx pack will drop voltage very quickly as soon as it sees load. The CC Bec should hold very steady.

Um, you think you need more then 6 volts with a servo that has 320oz/in of torque and a transit speed of .15 sec @ 6v? I'd say keep it at 6, why risk it?

Some setups run 7V with ease. i think it's more servo related than receiver related though, you can wire the servo's so the current doesn't go through the tiny copper wires in the receiver..

But again, with that much power @ 6v, what's the point? I don't see an adavantage.

Thanx for the responses! I think I'll go with Hautz's suggestion and set it @ 6.3. And Matthew, I realize it is probably overkill, but I guess it's a Tim Taylor thing; MORE POWER!!!!!

It's not about power; Speed increases too..

I run 6.2v in my TLT crawler with a TowerPro 995MG and it takes it just fine, bumped the power of it up a little too, very nice little bec.

I think I read somewhere that the Spektrum Rx could handle up to 9.6v
Like serum said though, the servo will not take the higher voltage as well.

I have mine set at 6.2V (I have a 5955TG, and yea...even on like 5V its overkill, but hey...I KNOW it will crank them wheels lol).
