Kokam better then Flight power? - 01.10.2008, 07:05 PM

I was on rctech, and arguing with some people on hard cased lipos, I said TrakPower, and got reamed for that, and I finially got some graphs, heres what one guy said

vs a Kokam Cell in a Kokam pack
http://www.slowflyer.ch/downloads/tn07004.pdf

The Enerland cell lost 7% capacity in 36 cycles. After such a large loss in capacity - they elected to raise the voltage cutoff. Something they didn't do for any other cell.

The Kokam cell lost 8% capacity in 360 cycles.

Is that normal? I was always told on all forums that flight power is THE best in all ways......

It could have something to do with the particular pack that was tested. A single sample proves nothing when you're trying to do a statistical comparison like they did in the pdf's.

And since when did Kokam provide any 4000mAh+ 20C+ cells for any hard cased lipo manufacturers? Never that I know of. I'll take a Trakpower over an Orion or Peak 4800 pack any day of the week. Not only will they hold better voltage under load, they're also cheaper.

Kokam cells are in the orion/peak packs....

I still say the guys there are full of $h!t, its just frustrating when everyone is saying enerland is crap compared to the kokam, and since everyone at my track reads that stuff, it now looks like I am using the crap batts...... When they perform better then all the orion packs I used in my car.....

And they're 15C cells in the 4800's, not 20C. The 3200's are 20C though, but 3200mAh is kinda small these days.

Just remind them how crappy they think your pack is when you kick their ass on the track.

They all believe what they manufacture rates them at, I know the 3600 25C pack wont hold a true 25C like the TrakPower does.....

I would, if I could drive LOL, I just need money for new tires, and a good set up

From what little I looked at it, is it really far to compare a 3300 20C pack to a 30C 4000mah pack? Especially if the test are identical...Even if there not, the that proves nothing.

What a Joke.. Why don't they compare this
http://enerland.com/upload/3200XQ-4S2.pdf
or this
http://enerland.com/upload/4500XQ-4S2.pdf
against the kokams.. :)
Kokams are great cells... but flightpowers are still better..

I've owned Kokam 20C 3200's for several years and they are still going strong.

I've never owned flightpowers, but for the price difference, I'd go with the flightpowers.

I agree with squee, they need to compare apples to apples when doing this kind of testing...

A kokam and Enerland cell of similar ratings will perform similarly. Kokam is among the best lipo manufacturers for sure, but so is Enerland. A 4000mah 20c cell from either would be a fair comparison and would likely produce very similar results. I wouldn't hesitate to use Kokam or Enerland. I don't think either one is significantly better or worse than the other. :)

I love my Scorpion packs. Too bad FMA wanted to become rich quick with the kind of price they had them going for. I do also like my PolyRC and Kong Power is the ones I'm using now.
