better slipper clutches - 01.21.2008, 01:52 AM

Hey, I need a better slipper for my rustler and my e-maxx!
My rustler in running a MM7700KV system with a 2s Trackpower LiPo and my stock clutch is as tite as it can go becouse if it even starts to slip it will heat up and start slipping more and more! and within about 5mins it's so hot the spur's starting to worp. The problem is that i love floring it all the time and with the clutch that tite, the diff gears blew not long ago and i'm just now getting the new one in. I'd like a slipper that will slip a little without getting weak or real hot! Any ideas?
And as for my e-maxx, I am getting all the 3.3 parts for the driveline and metel idle gears for the tranny so i can install a 8XL motor and MM ESC. It will only be running off of 12 3800mah NiMH cells and a UBEC for now but i hope to get another 2s trackpower as soon as i can so then it'll then be running off of 4 LiPo cells. and from what i heard, that will be too much for the stock clutch. What slipper would work best in the e-maxx with that setup?

please keep in mind that i really don't need to spend that much money sence i get roughly $10 a week to spend so it could take a wile!

I appreciate all the help!

Sounds like you need to replace the pads, and plate on the slipper

And for the maxx, a strobe slipper seems to be the best way to do it, and then use MOD 1 spurs and pinions...

yea my rustler's clutch does seen real worn. the pads and metel plate are like class with perfictly uniform groves and the plate. could i cheat by flipping the pads and the plate over?

is thare a link to the strobe slipper and MOD 1 stuff? and about how much will it cost?

the only other place would be b/s/t forums. they pop up on the UE forums from time to time.

they've been out of production for a while now. i had one NIP, along with extra pads, but sold it a couple months ago.

oh i got pics of my rusty's slipper!
the used side of the little metel plate:

non-used side:

used side on the pads:

the side that i'm going to use now:

i think it'll have a LOT more friction with the pads and the plate flipped around! the used sides were as smooth as posible it seems!

check this post out:

http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...strobe+slipper

I made this for my E- Revo. Its works on the original emaxx tranny. Works better than great. I am trying to convert another slipper clutch for my stampede. If I get it done soon I will post about it to.

I used the Robinson Racing one for my e-revo (Emaxx transmission) with a steel spur and it seems to be holding up ok.

At least it meant that spares were easily available.
