gearing - 01.21.2005, 05:42 PM

I was going to try some new gearing but not sure if the 7x. and Warrior 9918 can handle it. I was going to put a 54 tooth Spur gear and a 24 tooth pionion gear. What do you think?

On 16 cells, the warrior is gonna get a workout with that gearing! Start with a smaller pinion and add a tooth at a time. The speed with that gearing will be ludicrous(60+mph range!)! It may be all right for a speed run, but I wouldn't bash around with that gearing. 18/54 will put you at or near 50mph, which is silly fast in an e-maxx! 15/54 is probably a better place to be. This would put you around 40mph, which is already too fast! I wouldn't recommend it.

I have 18 cell in my e-maxx. I got a couple of extra pinion gears from a freind so I was going to try them out. Now I have 18, 19, 22, & 24 tooth pinion. For spur gears I have have 54, 66, & 72. I just want to make sure when playing with them, my controller and motor can keep up.

Make sure your driving can keep up! 18 cells with an 18/54 pinion/spur combo will be pretty insane! Insane speed and torque! I would definately recommend a fan for the controller at this point. This setup will easily push your truck into the 50mph range. Please bash with a lower gear ratio. For a speed run, you can push the envelope a little with the gearing, but for playing around, it's best to keep the gearing towards the mildly insane side (as opposed to the "needs to be committed to a nut house immediately" insane side!):)
Gotta get some video before you break the sound barrier!
