I have used that ESC for about 2 years now with absolutely zero problems. I have used it in a Stampede, E-Maxx and now in a 1/8 buggy conversion. I have ran it with 14 cells without a problem (did thermal though), but I did disable the BEC by disconnecting the red wire and I then ran a reciever pack. I just wish it could handle a few more amps and would be nice if it handled more voltage.

As for the motor, I've never heard anything about it, I have always used a Feigao 8XL with my ESC. I did have problems with the 8XL but it is still the only motor I use.

I've used that esc in a Stampede with a feigao 12S and 4s lipo and also in an MT2 with a 9L and 4s lipo. It's a great esc for bashing since it is waterproof, but like spaz said, it could use a higher amp rating. Also, the brakes don't have a long enough delay after stopping. It goes into reverse as soon as the truck stops, which is a bit annoying. Overall, though, I like that esc.

The Plasma motors are simply rebadged Feigao motors.

I've burned up two Truck ESCs. The first was in a buggy on 5s LiFePO4 (16.5v) with the built-in BEC being used. Mtroniks replaced it for free. The second time it was in my MT2 with 4s2p A123 and an 8L, geared for about 60mph. When these ESCs blow, there's A LOT of smoke because that insulating material that makes it waterproof ends up melting.

I had that controller in my MBX5T and it was really good. I did some speed runs with it and overloaded the controller and it burned (My fault). The controller is great btw. Here are the videos:
