I charge my 2s maxamps 8000mah packs in series with a lba-10 balancer and a hyperion 1210i charger it works fine except for one thing ! the balancer disconectas the packs when the charger only shows that they are 85-87% full why ?
Another question ! my old orbitmicro charger only charges these packs att 4.5ah max even if i've set it to charge at 6ah ? My new charger (hyperion 1210i) charges them at 7.97ah why ?
but the orbit can charge current can be set at 6ah and the charge power is the same as the 1210i 180w.
My hyperion 1210i shows the estimated capacety of the pack when i cinect the lipopacks to the charger and then it starts counting up to 100% from that number ! and thease pack's shower 34% when pluged in.
Are any of the cells far enough out of balance that a high cell exceeds 4.2v before the others? Try balancing without charging until each of the cells are equal, then start the charge.
Yeah, if you are going by the percent meter, wallot is right; that is just an estimate. There is no way any device can know the accurate charge level solely by voltage. The best it can do is estimate because lipos do not have a linear discharge curve.
About your other charger. Does it require a 12v DC input? If so, is the power supply strong enough to maintain ~12v and the current required?
yes my powersupply puts out 13,8v and 22ah so it's enough and i can charge my maxamps 8000mah 3s pack at 6ah with that charger but my 2s packs made of the same kind of cells at only 4,2-4,5ah strange ?
Hmm. Have you manually checked those cells with a voltmeter to ensure the voltage are close? What you describe sounds like it is specific to that 2s+2s pack. It sounds like the Hyperion is simply shutting off due to high imbalance and the other charger is reducing the charge rate to keep the cells within tolerable voltage limits - simply two different methods to help protect against overcharging the high cell(s).
