James, most any brushless fan will be fine up to about 75% over spec'd volts. And wow do they work. Buddy of mine has 2 2" BB fans rated 12V, run on 16.8 normally, and have been run at 25V, no issues. I have 2 1" Novak fans rated at 5V, running 8.4 for over 3 years. No worries!

I think the Spektrum Rxs can handle up to 9V

BEC=UBEC battery eliminator circuit or universal battery eliminator circuit. Most fans are 12v, you've already configured your setup for 6v fans, which is fine. With a 4s pack you could power the fans directly from the lipo pack. (they can handle a little over voltage.)

well my plan was to get the esc all hooked up tonight since i have the bec and everything now but since my machinist finished the parts for my hubs i decided to work on the disc brakes instead. here are some pics. tomorrow will be esc day and test run without brakes. i need to order a couple of parts to finish up the brake system. probably gonna be another week to get the brakes finished but i will try to get a video before then. there are a ton of small, time consuming, mods needed to make these disc brakes work.

to make the disc brakes work i had some small aluminum blocks made that attach to the hubs and then the calipers attach to them. a few pics.

kaz, did you already get your brakes mounted? did you run into issues? its just one thing after another with these? i need to purchase some extended hexes cuz now the wheel hits the carbon disc before it even gets tightened down all the way. also the wheel hits the calipers so i need to grind out a little bit of material off the caliper or the wheels.

speaking of wheels i got my new outlaw 5t rims and hostile mxt tires today. they are sick!

as for the esc i am sure it works but i still havent got it all hooked up.

here are some pics of the new wheels/tires. and i think i am gonna stick with the rampage truck body instead of the desert rat 5t body. the ramp body is so much more aero-dynamic and i think will just be a bettery body. plus the desert rat body is kinda hideous. if the hpi 5t body wasnt so long i would use that. i like that body a lot.

I did discover that a 200 ounce servo pushing cable brakes seems a lot weaker than a 200 ounce servo running the stock Rampage brakes.

Wheels and tires look good.

I worked on soldering my battery connectors some tonight. I discovered that slip on pencil erasers make a perfect cover for 6mm bullet connectors.

hmm. yeah when i mounted my brakes on the stock plastic parts they worked fine, with the exception of needing to take out a little material to allow full steering throw. the aluminum parts are different in size and shape slightly so its been a little tougher. actually after looking at things again some extended hubs will take care of everything. they need to be extended by about 5mm on each hub though. i dont know if there are any that extend out that far. again i am using 24mm hubs. you know of any? i really like these uberRC hubs. i cant use the darksouls cuz they are round where the discs would be. so i need a hub that is hex shaped throughout.

these uberRC hexes extend by 8mm which is perfect but they only sell them in a set so i would have to drop $200 and then try to sell the fronts. d4mn. didnt really feel like doing that.

I rewatched the vid... The audio is seamless so I assume I'm seeing the video correctly?

To me most of the slow-mo seems "ratchety", that's why I called it a slideshow.

IMO a good vid would have 75% real time video and 25% slo-mo/stills/sweeps/what have you. Maybe 66.6/33.3 Definitely more actual truck noise. (frickin' youtube)

And according to many experts the average american attention span is about 3 min. I prefer about a 5 min. vid. I must be above average

I want a 5th scaler bad, my current projects have me busy for about the next 3 yrs., maybe after that.....
