i have one in a b4 buggy and it does very good.

kody, that wighs half if not less then a jato, and much less roatational mass

It doesn't neccessarily have to be a Jato. I just thought they look cool and that would be about what my budget would be. What ever I go with, I want to do a scratch build or maybe a kit. I haven't done that yet, should be interesting. I also considered a Dark Impact or a Rustler with a few upgrades.

I'm learning I enjoy building and working on them as much or more than running 'em.

a 7700 in a dark impact would do good the 7700 is for lighter off road cars and on road it does very good in my b4 it is very fast.

The DI looks pretty sweet too, I hear with a decent slipper and some shocks it's pretty good. Mike, ever made a DI slipper? :D

Yeah, it's my understanding that it would take another $100 or so to make it stand up to the MM BL set up, plus a little suspension work to actually be competative.

probably true i am very lucky with my b4 i have not messed anything up in the tranny (knock on wood).
