I like the UBEC because it puts out 6v vers 5.2v the ESC puts out and it was aready wired into my ESC from my CRT. :) Do you need it on 3s? probably not but as BrianG said heat can be a factor although I have been running my RC18B on 4s with the Mamba and Quark ESC's without a UBEC and have not seen any heat issues I believe the small servo and weight is the reason it works in the RC18's?
Your going to have to come up with a battery mount? Keep in mind an added benifit of the mount is it also makes a great chassis brace and eliminates a lot of the flex in the chassis. :)
Got my mount and pinion/bore reducer. Now time to get over to the LHS and pick up my Mamba Max. Oh getting so close......
Can anyone suggest what weighht of diff fluid to use. I am wanting to get all three diffs filled with the right the stuff first time. I have never owned a center diff vehicle. Used to race 2wd's and the only thing I race now is 4wds minis.
Thanks so much for everyones help. You guys ROCK! ;)

That's where I started. And I haven't changed a thing other than running 2.2 truck tires. And I believe you are correct on that being the Canadian Winternational setup. If you look at the setup sheet it does say Red Deer Cananda 3/4/07. The dates for the event were March 1-4.
Good luck on the build and be sure to post up your progress!
Caller ID said it was my mother-in-law. Answering machine took a message
What, you mean you actually let your mother in law phonecalls through!?
@nicad; did you get the jaco foams?
Brian; what do you mean with 'it got hot on 3 s at 250mAh load?' the BEC on the mm controller? i thought you could use it up to 5S without any problems ? :005:
IMO, starting with a "nitro" setup may be detrimental. After all, weight distribution will be quite different on a BL setup. Just my $0.02.
I assume the initial tq is more on B/L as well you said weight distribution. I would think that some normal adjustments after driving you could bring the balance in check fairly easy.
Please set me straight and elaborate the adverse affect of a nitro set up in a B/L.
Thanks,

I like it with the brushless set up and have not changed anything yet the steering seems nice and nutral with no understeer or oversteer issues and it handles the jumps very well it's way better then starting with the stock set up.:)
There are 2 things I dont dont really like getting into because there are to many variables pinion and gearing issues and chassis set up what works for one may not work for others.:032:
I dont have a gas CRT.5 to compare to the brushless CRT.5 to see the diference in weight and balance my car is right at 50/50 front to rear and side to side balance and weighs 4lb-5oz RTR.
The center diff is going to be about the main thing to change with the brushless motor if you notice the front end diffing out under acceleration IE spining the front wheels try a heavier diff fluid and if it is trying to flip under acceleration or wheelies to much a lighter diff fluid is needed you have to find a happy medium and balance for your driving style and track conditions.:027:
Looking at rx placement and I decide to pull my micro spectrum off my brushed detta. It will fit on top the servo and no issues with the steering arm. My only concern is interference with the digital servo.
Any advise? I can move about 1/2" above the servo making a mounting plate.

Spektrum is pretty resilient with noise because it is such a high frequency compared to the servo digital frequency. You can literally hear the servo, so it's probably in the audio frequency range (20Hz-20kHz), which is WAYYY below 2.4GHz, even counting harmonics. :) If you are worried about it, you could use an aluminum or carbon fiber plate between the two to help shield the radio.
I got a 7" buffer wheel set up. I polished this up. Two passes on the cutting side and two on the polish. I plan to spend a little more time with it and the most likely have the dremel on the back side to finish it up.
Got the Battery mount laid out. I plan to do the machining this week(end). Then polish it as well.
looking into making a hold down mount. Attached is a rough sketch. I was thinking these would be pretty trick. Mount at top and back. Bottom is not for sure. I hate drilling holes in the chassis. Plan to to do four of them for the battery mount plate.
If I do not attach the hold downs to the chassis I prob lose that leg all together and have a L bracket so to speak.
Any ideas or things you see that might not work please do not be shy.
Thanks,

If I was to lose the leg I came up with a design the allows for some adjustment of the outer mount. Of course I will round the outer mount. No sharp edges. Also considered a CF plate on the out side of the battery for the mount to press on.
