Two questions:

1: Is that pinion a hardened Mod1 pinion? If not, that's a problem. Mike's hardened pinions are hardened but also have a different tooth geometry to work much better with a steel spur. But, that does look like a hardened pinion, but the pics are a little unclear.

2: On the spur, I see a spot where the tops of the teeth were sheared off. Since it's on one spot, that tells me that the mesh isn't consistent. Possible causes are loose motor mount/motor, or you are getting flexing on the chassis and/or the motor mount.

I've been running steel on steel for a while now and wear is excellent. But proper and consistent mesh is vital for gear longevity.
