I get tons of traction when I use some beat up spikes. Even my heavy BPP goes to its lid if I'm not too careful. Here you can see the tires that I have: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...5&postcount=58. They were able to handle 4760W when I tried 10S just to see if the 1521 could handle the voltage. The truck was hooked up great on black top and launched like it had rockets hooked to it. I drew a nice little crowd at the parking lot, but it ended at around 9:50 when the diff couldn't handle anymore.

Wow man, talk about some Foams. 4760 Watts you say, blacktop!! I used honey on my foams on the blacktop. Thin and stickey enough for better traction....cheap too. I just have to refrain from licking my fingers after I rub the honey on the foams.

What foams/tires are those? What Hex size and where to get them? Tash will be interested in those too.

Got them on sale from a LHS. They were made for the Savage, T-Maxx and I think it is 14mm hex. I have no clue who makes them as they were only in the bag. When I get a chance to go to the hobby shop, I'll ask to see if they have more.

Dude.... If you can figure out who makes those wide foams Id be interested as well. I have been using the IMEX maxx size foams and they are only half as wide as that. The IMEX work ok but those wide ones would be awesome.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Actually the Pizza cutter name came from Sleebus at the TNT and the folks at beatyourtruck.

I was thinking about the Neu, but 2 pole motors spool up a bit quicker. When I'll built a 1/8 scale then I'll do the Neu for sure.

I think Jaco has mounted foams for your truck.

i think so. i think the springs are too stiff. the split ring hasnt even made a mark inside the hub yet so i know i have gotten enough force to make 2nd gear grab. i ran my numbers today and got to thinking. since i'm running 8s1p, i'm probably putting a decent load on the batteries. we all know a123's like to drop voltage in 1s packs. so basically i'm spinning the motor around 30k right now if i'm dropping to 2.7v/cell. i went through everything and all seems right, except for the no shifting part. i think i'm going to just live with it stuck in first until i get the 12s1p running. i know i'll be putting some centrifical force on the clutch assembly then. if i don't get a shift at that point, i'll look at other options.

lutach, the lhs told me proline used to make some foams for monster trucks, but i couldn't find any info anywhere. i wonder if thats what you have there. also the track that we drag at is very slippery. i get so much more traction infront of my house than i do out there. they prep the track, but its in a parking lot, and i think the smoothed out oil saturated asphalt is showing.

The only info I found on those giant foamies, was on a thread in 2001. Proline Jaco offered premounted foams for the maxx.

When I got those foams, I asked if he could get more and he said yes. I will call them tomorrow to find out for sure. The last time I used them was also on some slippery surface. That didn't bother them at all and they offered a ton of grip.
