Neu finned vs smooth temps?

Mounting holes are the same. I have no idea on the temps though. Many others here say that they make very little difference. I am trying to decide between a smooth can or finned can myself, so I would like to hear from others if the heat is more with smooth can. I have one finned can that runs real cool. I may just get a finned can (looks cooler,lol) and grind down the fins for clearance with smaller gears.
