Not sure on the 3 pin connector, but it surely can be hooked up. I have some 12 volt, 2 pin fans if you need them.

To demonstrate the cooling effoects of suck vs. blow, think of a hot day. Which side of the fan do you stand on to cool down? The air blowing over you cools much better than standing behind the fan! Same principle.
