the main purpose is not so much for the heatsink but for the clamp part as it sandwhiches the ends of the motor together not letting them "pop out" on you during running, the feaigo motor are pressed or snapped together so under hard driving or any jumping or bashing they can easliy come apart the mike heatsink clamp prevents this.

if you dont wanna grind on a heatsink buy the flm tranny and itll just be a bolt up installation and you have a much stronger motor mount and the tranny will serve as a bigger heatsink also.
