Maybe I'm just thick but something doesn't sound right. Are you feeding the pistix output to the servo too? If so, that won't work right. It should go: radio to Y cable. One side of Y goes to brake, the other goes to the pistix and then to the ESC.

Better yet, use channel mixing (if you have it) and have CH3 slaved off of throttle. That way, CH2 goes to pistix and ESC, CH3 goes to brake. You get a lot more adjustment out of that since each channel has its own set of EPA, trims, etc.
