I used scenario 1 this time with my UBEC, and I recommend using the UBEC right off and don't even mess with the built in BEC. My 9920 worked ok, but got rather warm. Then I fried my 16016 right away using built in BEC. Never again!!! 9920 seems to be working with UBEC so far -- knock on wood!
Soldering up the Deans plugs to the ESC first and then lightly going over the UBEC wires on top with the soldering iron seemed to make an easy job of it. Pre tinned of course.
As for scenario 3, I did use that last time because I did like to run a single 4s pack every once in awhile, but it's too small for my 7XL so I won't be using it on my emaxx this time. Scenario 1 seems the best I think. Less wire, plugs, solder, and resistance.
