Avoid the bore reducer if you can - the shafts get a fair amount of stress - 1/8 can break, hence Novak's gone to 5mm for 1/10 scale HV.

I broke my feigao 1/8 7L shaft on my crt.5 - Go 5mm if you are buying a new motor - No reason not to.
