Did you check to see if the center diff is working properly? Hold the spur gear while turning the rear tires in reverse, and the front tires should spin forward rather easily, with a little bit of resistance due to the fluid in the diff. If the tires do not spin smoothly, you may need to get new center diff chamber and outdrives as the outdrives and chamber wear into eaching other and causing friction. This is what happened to my diff, and you would only notice the problem when the diff was in the car, after a heat/cooling cycle.

It could also be that the rotor is partially demaganetized, which will cause the motor to over heat more easily, over time. In this case you would have to send it back to neu, which should take care of it for little to no cost. If the motor spins more freely than it did when it was new, then this is likely the case.
