We compared one of his motors against several others and we at Hamdrl came up with a name for his motor. Black Beast

Tamiya should've made their own stuff. Aren't they the biggest company in RC? All them technology companies in Japan and Tamiya had to ask someone else to make their bushless.

I know what you mean. That said, when you concider alot of their models still come with the 3-step mechanical esc, its little wonder they were out of their depth when it comes to BL stuff...

One would've thought with their high end line they would offer something amazing, but if the prices stay the way they are, I don't see any of their drivers using the motors as they would not be ROAR approved.

I am a bit surprised by the Tamiya re-badge, after all they broke into 1/8-scale gass with a new design so I figured they would keep on going. I was in Tokyo for 4 months this past year and I noticed the RC market there seemed way behind in terms of brushless and lipo stuff.
