Hudy Wheel Balancer - Feedback?

I use Ultimate Racing balancer with HUDY thumb nut used in 1:8 offroad setup system. the UR nut works ok only with GRP buggy wheels. or u can use any 17mm wheel nut.

u can always take hudy or UR balancer apart (bottom off) secure it in a vice and balance as big wheels as u like :)

All of the 17mm wheel nuts I have won't thread on so it's good to know some that will. My Traxxas wheel nuts looke like they have a little thicker thread.

Actually need a vice but just looking at drilling the side of my work bench and just hanging it off the edge.

WHy do you need a 17mm nut. I just used the 17mm hex adapter and clamped it between two nuts and washers on the shaft. It works great and it is terribly easy to remove and install a wheel to do the balancing work. YOu have to think outside the box sometimes to achieve your goal. I like the look of the Hudy balancer. Maybe you can remove the bottom plate and extend the balancer somehow by threading a piece of allthread into the stantion, and mounting it directly onto your workbench. I am sure there is a way to make it work for MT wheels.

I am looking to do exactly what you say clamping it between two nuts, the issue was that all of my current 17mm nuts are a different thread size so none of them screw on. I am changing gears and making it work now but the point of this thread was to see if one would work out of the box, if I wanted to just make it work from the start I wouldn't have posted. It has been a good discussion and we know now that truggy != MT for any of these balancers.
