Pinion gear only available with the 2200kv MMv3?

I got the monster combo today with the 2650 kv and there was no pinion included.I was at my LHS last week and saw an open box 2200 combo that had a green pinion gear included,why is that? The 3 removable plugs are the newest version of the V3. If the one you saw didnt have any plugs then it was a V1. They were the only MMM version that had all 5 wires hard wired. to the board.

The early V3 had all 5 wires attached with plugs.
